Amerty Equine Hospital offers the following services. Complete Checkup: These fees include
a basic checkup, floating of the teeth, vaccinations, worming (if desired), coggins blood test, lameness exam and CRI
(Cardiac Recovery Index). Please click here to find out what the CRI is.
Just a note about the Lameness exam included in the checkup: This is used in COMBINATION with the CRI test. It
gives us a better picture of how healthy your horse is! We suggest it for ALL horses.
Check-Ups Babies are considered foals until they reach 1 year old. So for the first year of their life, they
are a foal and will be getting the appropriate shots for their age!

Single Vaccinations You are more than welcome to purchase single vaccinations for your horses, but you will get a better
deal by choosing the check-up and vaccinations together.
West Nile Virus - $20 Tetanus Toxoid - $20 Encephalomyelitis(VEE, EEE, WEE) - $20 Influenza- $20 Rhinopneumonitis(EHV-1
and EHV-4) - $20 Strangles - $20 Rabies- $20 Potomac Horse Fever - $20 Botulism - $20
Equine Viral Arteritis - $20 Should be done the first time for colts at 6-12 months that are going to be breeding
stallions, then should be done annually after that. Stallions should also have it done 28 days before breeding season, may
be shed in semen for up to 21 days.
Rotavirus A - $20 Should be given to mare at 8, 9 and 10 months of gestation.
Pneumabort-K - $20 Should be done at 90(3 months), 150(5 months), 210(7 months), and 240(8 months) days of gestation.
Others tests and exams we do Coggins Test - $20 Annual test to check for the presence of Equine Infectious
Anemia. This is required for every horse to be tested and come out negative in order to show.
Fecal Testing - $10 Fecal Testing is to check for worms and other kinds of parasites.
Dental Check - $15 Checking the horse to teeth to make sure everything is good. We recommend that you get your horses
teeth checked annually, we will let you know whether they should be floated or not.
Teeth Floating - $50 Every horse should have their teeth floated annually for the first three years, after that
we recommend that your horse gets it teeth floated at least every two years after the first three years. Floating will file
down the sharp point and hooks which can cause a horse to have pain, problems with eating or accepting the bit.
Pre-Purchase Exam - $100 We recommend that all horse get the pre-purchase exam before going up for sale or being
bought. We will check the horses over all health and includes looking at the teeth, eyes, joints, and hoofs. Also a flex test
is done on the legs as well to ensure there is no lameness. If lameness is detected, we will continue and do a lameness
exam to see the extent of the lameness.
Lameness Exam - $250 This is to check if your horse is lame or not, we do flex test, muscle palpatation, movement
observation. Also if needed X-rays, ultrasound, scinography, computer tomography, electromyography, digital radiology, and
force plate. This exam is more extensive than most of the testings we do on a horse. That is why it is more expensive than
most vet practices.
LAMENESS EXAM- PARTIAL- $20- This exam goes with the 6 month required vetting appointment. It is done the same way as the
regular lameness exam but only for those horse that shows the need to have the lameness exam completed. You will
be charged for this exam if your vet feels it necessary.
BREEDING
Breeding Soundness Exams: $200/pair (Includes both Stallion and Mare) If you choose to do this by itself, these are
the fees for it. It is also included in our Well Breeding Program. Please see below for more details about it. This exam is
done before any breeding takes place. You can read more about what information we will need from by clicking here. You will get a comprehensive report back within a few days of the exams.
Well Breeding Program: $500 This is a program that we are introducing for the first time to our clients. For those breeding
facilities, it is a great benefit to have all appointments at one price and not have to worry about making an appointment
for this and one for that. They’re all included. You pay one fee for everything. The Well Breeding Program includes
the following: Breeding Soundness Exam for mare and stallion, assistance at the breeding, ALL veterinary appointments during the pregnancy and assistance with the foal delivery if
needed. As with all exams, you will get a report within a few days of the exam. On the breeding date, we will sit down and
plan out the future appointments for your horse. That way they are already made, and can be changed if needed!
Emergency
Foal Delivery: $150 Some farms like to let deliveries happen on their own. If you need emergency assistance, please call us
and we’ll be glad to help you out.
Others Embryo Transfer - $1000
ET is a way of being able to breed your prize mare and transfer the embryo
to another mare so that your competing mare may still compete. This also enables mares to have more than one foal a year.
We reccommend that all surrogate mares get a breeding soundness exam. We also reccommend that you have your surrogate mare
checked more often then a regular broodmare to make sure that the foal is growing healthy and well inside.
Pregnancy Exam - $100 Should be done 14-18 days after being bred. Then again at 30-40, 60, 90, 120, 180, 240, and
300 days. This is to ensure that your mare's preganancy is going well and that the foal is in good health.
Mare Post-Partum Exam - $50 This involes examing the mare, foal and placenta at about 12 hours after the birth.
We will do a physical exam on the mare and make sure she is in good health with no injuries to the area around the vulva and
anus.
Newborn Foal Exam - $50 This should occur in the first few days of the foals like. This will ensure your foal is
in good health with no problems. If their is a problem we will be able to catch it fast.
Semem Evaluation - $50 This exam is for you stallion's sperm. We will evaluate motility, concentration, morphology
and perform test to be sure your stallion si fertil.
Epididymal Sperm Collection - $5 per straw If you want to geld you stallion but would like a foal or two from him
we can collect some sperm from him before castration. Let us know how many straws you would like.
Castration - $120 This is when you stallion's testicles are removed, enabling him to reproduce. This can be helpful
when your stallion is over aggressive, physical problems or you just don't want another stallion on your farm. Gelding is
usual done between 6-24 months of age.
Spaying - PLEASE contact us for pricing. Spaying a mare is when you take out her ovaries. This is done in cases
if the mare is very agressive during heat cycles or has many cysts. This is a big surgery so please put a lot of thought into
it before doing it.
GENETICS- These tests are for the genetics of veterinary work. We do these tests specifically for particular horses. Each
of the following tests have a description of what these tests are for. To determine foal colorings and such, we plan to use

HYPP Test(For Stock Horses) - $30 Hyperkalemic Periodic Paralysis is a muscular disease. All stock breeds should
have this test to be sure they don't have it or if they carry it. Horse with positive testing should not be bred, since that
horse can pass it on to its offspring. Symptoms include twitching, trembling, localized shaking, or weakness, and sudden paralysis.
SCID Test(For Arabs & Part Arabs) - $30 Severe Combined Immunodeficiency, is a deadly disease. Horses should
be checked to be sure they don't have it or carry it. Horses that are effected with the disease will die within a few months
of birth. Carriers of it will not be effected but can pass it on to horses that test 50%, so carriers should be bred to only
horse that have been tested clear.
OLWS(For Paints) - $30 Overo Lethal White Syndrome. This test is to determine weather your horses is a carrier of
this disease. Horses that have been infected will die shortly after birth. Carriers will not be effect but should not be bred
to a horse that is a carrier, but only to a horse that is tested clear. This can be found in Paint, but also in Miniatures,
Thoroughbred, and Quarter Horses. Most overo patterned horse are the carrier but some are exceptions.
SURGERY- Sometimes surgery is necessary for horses. The surgeries that we do are described below. Colic Surgery - $1,000 Colic
is a common problem. Some cases may send a horse to the hospital for surgery. The need for surgery is determined by the amount
of pain and the ability to control the pain. We will check your horse to see the intensity of colic and determine what to
do, including heart rate, temperature, mucus membrane color, gastric reflux after passage of stomach tube, and surgery will
take place if absolutely needed. Horse will be housed here at Amerty Equine until better.
Fracture Repair - $350 If your horse has suffered from a fractured bone it may have to be repaired. Horses will
be here at the hospital until he or she looks good enough to leave.
Bone Chip Removal - $250 Depending on the size and location of the chip, it can be painful and cause problems, with
a surgical removal your horse can be pain free.
Bowed Tendon Repair - $600 A bowed tendon is the swelling of the flexor tendon, at the back of the front connon
bone. This injury can cause by severe straining of the flexor tendon. Mostly seen in horse with long or weak pasterns and
horse. Surgery can treat this.
Broken Leg - Price Depending on Severity In some cases there is hope to repair a horses broken leg. Depending on
the location and severity of the leg we may be able to fix it. We are not guaranteeing that your horse will be able to jump
and go back into it's normal routine of competing, but we might be able to save the life of your horse.
OTHER SERVICES Emergency Care - Price depends on the seriousness IF your horse is severely injured and is in
need of a vet ASAP. Emergency include colic, laminitis(founder), choking, exhaustion/dehydration, Azoturia(tying up), Large
or deep cuts, eye injuries, broken bones, or other serious illnesses.
Event Services - FREE! If you are holding a show and wish to have a vet there in case of an accident or emergency,
we are happy to do it.
