Allow me to introduce
myself. I am Amy Kelly and I own Magnolia Hills with my husband George. He is the love of my life. We have three children
together, Benjamin, Barek Lee, Sydney Allyn and our adopted daughter Mary-Grace. We have my nieces and nephews helping us
on the farm and riding some of the horses.
I have been riding since I discovered horses at the age of 10. I didn't
have any specific horse growing up. I just spent every waking moment of my horse loving years at The Barracks. That's where
I learned to ride. I am currently not riding any of my favorite horses due to my health issues. I just recently had knee surgery
and it looks like it might be months before I’m capable of riding again.
George is my husband
of 24 years and has been my support through all of my health problems these last few months. I am so grateful to have someone
as special as he is. He has taken over the care of the farm, the endless paperwork and handling the shows. Besides seeing
George in the show ring, he will be flying around the farm doing various jobs that need to be done. He’ll flutter into
the office to take a little break, have lunch and is gone again for the afternoon. George is currently not showing any of
the horses due to my injury. He’s my legs when it comes to shows.
Benjamin Thomas is our
second oldest child. Ben has graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in Equine Science. He now works full
time around the farm doing various jobs. He also shows BuckALuck during the 3DE’s here at the farm or wherever there’s
a 3DE being held.
Barek Lee is our 3rd
child. Barek is now one of our top trainers alongside Mitchell. Mitchell is our head trainer Barek has followed his footsteps
and is going to be a great trainer. He spends every spare moment with his dad and Mitchell. He rides & shows three horses
in various disciplines and has just completed his training certificate. He will go off to UVA for his degree in Equine Science
as his brother did not too long ago.
Mary-Grace is our adopted daughter, and she is the oldest of the four. She came to us when she was an infant.
She's been riding since the early age of 3. She currently rides two of our eventing horses in different levels. She is currently
married to her high school sweet heart, Colin. They live on our property as well in one of the houses in the athletes village.
Syndey- Allyn is our
youngest daughter. She is 10, and currently home schooled as our other children were, and that is so that we can concentrate
on training and because of the shows we attend. She is currently in training and riding Rythmical BL in junior Hunters and
can’t wait to head to the Olympics again this year in Colorado. She’ll show in Junior hunters for the first time
in the Olympic games this year.
We also have several
barn cats, but only one who thinks he's human- Jinx. We don't have to worry about any of horses being afraid of him, because
they pay him no attention. Now, some of the younger ones like to have his company while sleeping. He's been around horses
all his life. I have had Jinx since the day he was born. He's a Manx; and if you don't know what kind of cat he is, He has
no tail! And that makes him even more adorable! He is loving to the visitors that we have here at MH. So if a gray and black
striped Manx cat comes rubbing up against you, don't be alarmed, It's just Jinx!
